#50 CASHMERE by Frost – Fawn

$1,800.00

Amala handpicked this cashmere from Springtide Farm in Downeast Maine. As breeders of the American Cashmere Goat, Springtide are pioneers of domestic cashmere. Its quality is unparalleled, and we are proud to feature it in our most sumptuous blanket.

Hand woven with a blend of cashmere, pure wool, and alpaca, this luxury blanket is a timeless gift. The weave pattern produces a unique loft for a denser, warmer, next-to-the-skin silky-soft blanket. Throw it over for luxurious warmth or wear it as a shawl. With proper care, this blanket will become your family’s coziest heirloom.

This is one of 13 cashmere blankets numbered and made in a limited production this year at the Frost Atelier in Eliot, Maine. Woven into a simply classic modern design, it features the Frost edge, Master Weaver Amala’s signature finish based on ancient peruvian weaving techniques. The red band, called a Blessing Thread, found in all Frost blankets, symbolizes the gift of care, love, and compassion.

Each blanket is produced by hand, and on a human scale.  We take every effort to produce our offering as sustainably as possible. All our materials are closely vetted for quality and care, and sourced from mission-driven operations. Frost blankets are hypoallergenic, and do not include any harmful chemicals, dyes, or additives. All colored yarns have been dyed with organic dyes and/or sustainable dyeing practices. Our home and atelier is powered by solar panels and a wood stove.

Throughout history, textiles have protected, warmed, covered, celebrated, and comforted our loved ones. Each Frost blanket is an embodiment of this human gift of love and compassion. Master Weaver, Amala, has practiced her craft for over 40 years. She invented the finishing technique found throughout each limited run. As every blanket is made by a human hand, slight variation should be expected. With a little care your Frost blanket will satisfy for decades. We still use blankets in our home that Amala made over 30 years ago!
